Khalil
Rehab Khalil was born in Canada and raised in Saudia Arabia where
she studied Arabic and Tajweed graduating from Manarat ArRiyad.
She moved to Egypt to complete a BA in Economics while starting her
family. She taught third and
fourth grade in Egypt where she discovered her affinity for teaching.
Subsequently, she has pursued a variety of interests including
teaching Arabic, Qur’an, K1, and Preschool.
She is currently the K1 and Qur’an teacher as she joins us for
her third year.

Taslima
Reza
Talima Reza is from Bangladesh where she grew up and completed
her BA in social sciences and early childhood education.
In Bangladesh she tutored children in math, language, and sciences.
She also worked as an elementary teacher for three years.
She moved to America in 1996. Since
then she has been raising her family and working with children.
From 2001-2007 she has been working as a preschool teacher, art
teacher, and library teacher in the Islamic Academy for Peace in Methuen.
She loves children and is joining us for her second year as the
Pre-k homeroom teacher.

Amina
Ali
Amina Ali was born and raised in
India and currently resides in Weymouth, MA.
She received her BS in Computer Science at Northern Illinois
University. She worked as a
computer programmer and volunteered in Islamic Schools as an Islamic
Studies teacher for over 10 years. Her experience also includes substitute
teaching in Braintree public schools, tutoring various age groups from
elementary to high school and teaching her two daughters at home.
She is joining us for her second year as the preschool Language
Arts teacher.

Heather
Ferguson
graduated from
Milton
Academy
in 1993 and went on to receive her Bachelor
of Arts in History from the
University
of
Virginia
. She began her teaching career at the Islamic Academy of New
England as the 5th grade
Language Arts and History teacher in 1999. She then went on to
teach at Al Qalam girls school in
Virginia
before traveling overseas with her family to study Arabic and Islamic
Studies at
Ummul-Qura
University
in
Makkah
,
Saudi Arabia
. Ms. Ferguson joined the
Mutanafisun
Academy
staff in 2008 as the lead Kindergarten teacher. After teaching Islamic
Studies to 4th and 5th for a year, she is now
returning as the
K2
homeroom teacher.

Beatriec
Provencio
Beatriec Provencio was born in the
Central Valley (near
Fresno
) in
California
. Bea’s interest and love for working with young children and infants
grew from her studies in Psychology, as well as from the birth of her
first niece. She began working in the education field during a year of
service in Americorps VISTA, where she worked in the inner city schools of
Oakland
,
California
. There she worked in
elementary up to adult continuing education programs.
Following that year of service she continued with the same
organization working with the high school and adult continuing education
program for three years. After completing a BA in Psychology, Bea began
working with preschool children aged 2.5 to 6 years old and has since
worked in play-based and Montessori programs.

Khalidah Bilal born and educated in

, has worked in human services for over 20 years.
Her work experience includes work with young people with
challenging behavior, adults with learning disabilities and mental health
challenges, as well as 5 yrs in kindergarten teaching in both mainstream
kindergarten and with children with special needs.
She acquired her BA in theology in Trinidad & Tobago graduating
in July 2007. Since then she has worked at

beginning her fourth year with.

Thomas-Yusuf
has been a member of the Mutanafisun teaching staff since 1999.
She

and then completed her BS in biology at

. She has passed the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure in
elementary school mathematics. She has been teaching in various capacities
for 18 years including, first grade teacher, second grade teacher, science
teacher, and preschool teacher. She is passionate about teaching,
spreading her enthusiasm to her students. Her special focus is making
science and math accessible to all students, but girls in particular.
Currently she is the fourth and fifth grade homeroom teacher.

Sara
Heath was born and raised in

. She completed her Associates
degree in Human services and is currently finishing her BA in Sociology.
She has been teaching in elementary schools for eight years where
she developed a love for math. Positions
included 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades.
This love for education and children has brought her to Mutanfisun
as the fourth grade Math teacher.

AlMussary was born in Dirattiah
Syria
where she studied Art in High school.
In 2004 she completed Qur’an program and received her Ijaaza in
Tajweed AlQuran from Abdul-Muhee Al Qurdi. She has taken many courses on
Islam as she continues her academic studies.
She taught tajweed and Qur’an in a several places including ISB
as well as private tutoring gaining experience with children aged two and
up for over six years. Her love for the children and high standards push
the students to excel. This is
her third year with Mutanafisun returning in the position as the Qur’an
and Arabic teacher.

Ridwana
K. Shafique
is a certified teacher from
Canada
with twenty years of experience. In
Montreal
, she was a tenured teacher of middle and high school for almost nine
years, teaching art, language arts, ecology, home economics and creative
writing. Ms. Shafique has run
several after-school programs that have offered art classes as well as
book clubs. She has also
been involved in several home-school co-operatives as a team leader,
curriculum developer and teacher. Ms.
Shafique has considerable experience in working with special needs
students as well as in the area of language acquisition, having worked
with programs such as Reading Recovery, Accelerated Reader and Reading
Reflex. Ms. Shafique worked as an ESL teacher and also held the position
of Director of ESL for two charter schools in
Michigan
, where she trained teachers to work with ESL students, gave workshops and
created and ran several after school programs for language development.
Ms. Shafique’s passion continues to be to instill a love for
learning in the hearts of all those that are in her charge.

Lastarr
Young
Lastarr Young was born and raised in
Boston
,
MA
. After high school she
attended Harvard in 1997 for Biomedical Science.
From there she moved to
Virginia
where she taught and assisted in grades one through three.
In 2001 she started her home daycare and worked with children eight
months through 12. Currently she is continuing her education taking
courses at MIT. She will be
the director of after-school programs.
